Six Agencies Collaborate in Major Drug Bust Along I-15 Corridor

February 20, 2026 — On February 20, 2026, the Washington County Sheriff's Office led a coordinated drug interdiction operation involving multiple partner agencies that resulted in the seizure of approximately 100 pounds of crystal methamphetamine during a traffic stop on Interstate 15.

During the operation, participating deputies and officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling northbound along the I-15 corridor and seized the narcotics, which were being trafficked through Utah. The bust represents one of the largest single methamphetamine seizures in the county's recent history.

Multi-Agency Coordination

The operation involved six law enforcement agencies working together: the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Homeland Security Investigations, Washington City Police Department, Hurricane City Police Department, Santa Clara-Ivins Police Department, and St. George Police Department.

Sheriff Nate Brooksby recognized the exceptional collaborative efforts of the deputies, officers, and agents throughout the county who work diligently to disrupt drug trafficking and protect local communities.

The I-15 corridor is a major transportation route frequently exploited by individuals and organizations transporting illegal narcotics. By sharing intelligence, resources, and specialized personnel, these partnerships enhance the collective ability to detect criminal activity, dismantle trafficking networks, and keep dangerous drugs out of Southern Utah communities.

Ongoing Commitment to Public Safety

The Washington County Sheriff's Office remains committed to safeguarding residents through proactive enforcement and strong inter-agency partnerships. A critical component of that mission is ongoing coordination with local, state, and federal law enforcement to carry out strategic drug interdiction operations along I-15.

The Sheriff's Office will continue to prioritize cooperative enforcement strategies that strengthen public safety and uphold its commitment to the communities it serves.
