The city's budget memo describes the project as an extension of the existing trail network through two new segments:
- From Arroyo Circle north to Red Cliffs Drive.
- From Red Hills Parkway north along the former Middleton Drive alignment, west to Cottonwood Springs Road and north to the Red Rock Road intersection.
It is one of the projects paid for by the city's 2023 general obligation recreation bond.
