What happened to the University of Utah Credit Union?
The University of Utah Credit Union still exists, under a new name. Founded on the University of Utah campus in 1956, it became University First Federal Credit Union (University Credit Union) in 2004, UFirst Credit Union in January 2022, and Canyon View Credit Union on April 8, 2025. The rename was not a merger: routing numbers, account numbers and phone numbers stayed the same.

Who can join the University of Utah credit union?
Canyon View Credit Union, the former University of Utah Credit Union, is open to anyone who lives, works, goes to school, worships or volunteers in Salt Lake, Davis, Summit, Tooele, Wasatch or Utah counties, and to their immediate family. It also lets people qualify through a charitable donation it makes on their behalf. Washington County is not on that list, so St. George residents should ask the Bluff Street branch how they can join. You need a government ID and a Social Security number or ITIN.
Once you are a member, you stay a member for life, even if you move away from the counties it serves.
