What It Does

The Associated General Contractors of Utah is the state chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America and the trade association for commercial construction in Utah. It says its members complete over 85 percent of the state's commercial construction. It lobbies at the Legislature, runs more than 100 training events a year (pre-licensure, continuing education, flagger and traffic control certification, apprenticeships, safety), offers member discounts including an association healthcare plan, and holds the Annual Convention, which it calls Utah's largest construction event.

The Southern Utah office in St. George, run by district manager Cindy Powell, hosts the St. George classes and the We Build Utah career fair for the region. Membership is open to general contractors, specialty contractors and suppliers or service providers, with dues based on the prior year's work volume. AGC does not license contractors; that is the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing.
