Warm Water Recreation Year-Round

Quail Creek Reservoir stays warmer than nearby Sand Hollow due to its relatively shallow depth and protected canyon location. Water temperatures can reach into the mid-80s°F during summer, making it feel like a natural swimming pool. The reservoir is stocked with rainbow trout (winter), largemouth bass, and bluegill. Two boat ramps and a sandy swimming beach provide easy access. Kayaking, paddleboarding, and wakeboarding are all popular activities on the calm, turquoise water.

Camping & Hiking in Red Rock Country

The park features 23 campsites with covered picnic tables, fire rings, and restrooms — several sites sit right on the reservoir shore with spectacular views. A paved trail loops around the south end of the reservoir, and connecting trails lead into the surrounding red rock terrain. The park is a popular base camp for visitors exploring Zion National Park, Grafton Ghost Town, and the Hurricane area. Day-use fee is $15 per vehicle.
