A Community Musical Theater Company on Main Street in St. George

St. George Musical Theater (SGMT) is a nonprofit musical theater company with its office at 905 S. Main St. in St. George. According to its website, SGMT serves more than 50,000 patrons each year through seven annual productions, and it also runs auditions, youth programs, volunteer opportunities and a season ticket program.

Where SGMT Performs

SGMT's venues page lists three places. The Historic Opera House is one of the company's venues. The Performing Arts Center, known as The PAC, is at 905 S. Main St. and houses dance studios, a screening hall, a recording studio, community rentals and youth programs. CenterStage is at the same address. The third venue is the upcoming Dimon Legacy Theatre at 950 S. Main St., across from The PAC.

SGMT describes the Dimon Legacy Theatre as a building of more than 21,000 square feet with more than 350 seats, a theater-in-the-round layout and full concessions. The company plans a grand opening on Saturday, December 12, 2026, with a Main Street walk from the Opera House, a ribbon cutting at 12:30 p.m. and an open house at 1 p.m. A ticketed Founders' Premiere for donors and civic leaders is set for Tuesday, December 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. For details, read our report on the Dimon Legacy Theatre grand opening or see the event page.

The 2027 Season

SGMT's site lists seven shows for its 2027 season: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Cinderella, Fiddler on the Roof, School of Rock, Singin' in the Rain, Come From Away and Anastasia. Season tickets are on sale, and the company also sells gift certificates. Single-ticket availability changes by show, so check the shows page for current sales.

Auditions, Youth Programs and Volunteering

The company says it has offered youth programs for more than 20 years and that its new facilities will let it expand that work. Its auditions page lists upcoming auditions for each production, and its volunteer page invites people to build the show, join the cast or create together. Anyone interested in a role on stage or behind the scenes can start with those pages.

Why a Community Theater Matters in Southern Utah

Washington County has grown quickly in recent years, and residents and visitors now have a range of live performance options. Professional productions at Tuacahn Amphitheatre in Ivins draw visitors, while community companies such as SGMT give local residents of all ages a chance to perform, volunteer and see live theater close to home. In a region where summer afternoons often top 100 degrees, indoor performances are a practical option.

St. George's Main Street corridor also puts the theater close to other downtown destinations in St. George. For more ideas, see our arts and culture guide.
