Location

La Verkin sits on State Route 9 between Hurricane and Springdale, about 30 minutes from St. George and roughly 30 minutes from the south entrance of Zion National Park. River Rock Roasting Company's café is just up State Street for coffee and a meal.

Staying Near Zion

Springdale, at the park entrance, fills up and prices climb during the busy spring and fall seasons. Staying in La Verkin or Hurricane trades a longer morning drive for more space and lower rates, plus easy access to Sand Hollow State Park, Quail Creek and the Hurricane Cliffs trails. During shuttle season, park early at the Zion visitor center or in Springdale and ride the free park shuttle into Zion Canyon.

When to Visit

Spring and fall bring mild temperatures and the heaviest crowds. Summer highs regularly top 100°F, and winter is quiet, cool and the cheapest time to stay.
