Christmas Events & Activities in Southern Utah
Southern Utah transforms into a festive wonderland during the holiday season. From dazzling Christmas light shows and live performances to holiday markets, Santa visits, and family traditions, there is no shortage of Christmas activities across St. George, Cedar City, Hurricane, and the surrounding communities. Here is your guide to the best Christmas events in Southern Utah.
Christmas Light Shows
Staheli Family Farm in Washington hosts one of the most spectacular Christmas light displays in all of Utah. The farm transforms into a winter wonderland with millions of lights, holiday-themed displays, a visit from Santa, hot cocoa stations, and festive entertainment. The Staheli Christmas Lights Extravaganza has become an annual tradition for thousands of families across Southern Utah and typically runs from late November through late December.
The city of St. George also hosts the annual Festival of Lights in downtown, where historic Main Street is illuminated with holiday lights, decorated trees, and seasonal displays. Many neighborhoods throughout St. George, Washington, and Hurricane create their own impressive residential light displays that families enjoy driving through on December evenings.
Holiday Performances & Shows
Tuacahn Amphitheatre in Ivins presents special holiday performances and Christmas concerts set against the stunning red rock canyon backdrop. The acoustics and setting make any holiday show at Tuacahn truly magical. In Cedar City, Southern Utah University hosts holiday concerts and performances through its performing arts programs, and local theater companies present seasonal productions throughout December.
Holiday Markets & Shopping
The Tuacahn Saturday Market features special holiday editions with artisan gifts, handmade crafts, and seasonal treats perfect for Christmas shopping. Local craft fairs, holiday bazaars, and pop-up markets appear throughout November and December at community centers, churches, and event venues across Southern Utah. Downtown St. George offers a charming shopping experience with unique local boutiques along Main Street and Ancestor Square.
Santa Visits & Family Activities
Santa Claus visits multiple locations across Southern Utah during the holiday season. Popular Santa photo spots include the Red Cliffs Mall, local community events, and seasonal venues. St. George Children's Museum hosts holiday-themed activities and craft workshops. Many local restaurants offer special holiday menus for Christmas Eve and New Year's celebrations.
Christmas in the National Parks
There is something magical about visiting Zion National Park during the holiday season. Winter crowds are smaller, the canyon walls may be dusted with snow, and the clear winter air provides some of the best photography conditions of the year. Snow Canyon State Park is equally beautiful in winter. For a white Christmas, head to Brian Head Resort for skiing and snowboarding — Southern Utah's only ski resort is just 90 minutes from St. George.
