Kristallnacht Memorial Service - St George Library

The St. George community gathers to remember Kristallnacht (The Night of Broken Glass), the November 9-10, 1938 pogrom against Jews throughout Nazi Germany and Austria that marked a major escalation toward the Holocaust. This solemn memorial service honors the victims and survivors while educating the community about this dark chapter in history. The evening includes readings, reflections, testimony, candle lighting, and discussion about the importance of remembering the Holocaust and fighting antisemitism and hatred in all forms. Speakers may include Holocaust survivors, historians, religious leaders, and educators who help connect historical lessons to contemporary issues of prejudice, discrimination, and human rights. This interfaith community event emphasizes the universal responsibility to remember history, stand against hatred, and protect vulnerable communities. The service creates space for reflection, education, and renewed commitment to never forget. All community members are welcome to attend this important memorial observance.

Write On Writers Group - Washington Library

The Write On Writers Group meets every Monday evening at the Washington Library for dedicated writing time, peer support, and creative fellowship. This recurring program provides writers of all genres and experience levels with a focused environment to work on their projects while surrounded by fellow authors. Whether you're drafting novels, short stories, poetry, memoirs, essays, or screenplays, the group offers accountability, inspiration, and the productive energy of a community writing session. Writers bring their laptops, notebooks, or preferred writing tools and work independently on individual projects. The three-hour evening session accommodates various schedules and writing rhythms. Brief social time at the beginning and end allows for networking and sharing progress, though the focus remains on productive writing time rather than critique or instruction. The consistent weekly schedule helps writers maintain momentum on long-term projects while building connections with Southern Utah's literary community.
