Is the Jellystone Water Zone open to the public?

Yes. You do not have to camp to use the Water Zone. Day passes are $29.99 per person plus taxes and fees when bought online, and season passes go on sale in November. Coolers up to 48 quarts need a cooler pass, and glass, alcohol and restaurant food are not allowed. Overnight guests get Water Zone access with their reservation.

What is in the Water Zone?

A heated 100-foot lap pool, a 45-foot slide tower, a plunge bowl, speed slides for riders 48 inches and up, a splash ground, a 700-foot lazy river, hot tubs and rentable cabanas. Samson Pond has a floating obstacle course for ages 6 and up, with free required life vests; it opens once the water warms in spring.

Is there a Jellystone Park in St. George?

No. The Jellystone closest to St. George is this one in Hurricane. From St. George, take I-15 north to Exit 16 and SR-9 east toward Hurricane, then turn south on Sand Hollow Road, or take the Southern Parkway (SR-7) east toward Sand Hollow; either way the drive is roughly half an hour. Las Vegas is about two hours south on I-15, which makes the park a common first night for families driving up to Zion.

What is near Jellystone Park Zion?

Sand Hollow State Park is about 4 minutes away for boating, paddleboarding and the Sand Mountain OHV dunes, and the park rents ATVs and UTVs that ride straight there. Quail Creek State Park is about 10 minutes away for a quieter lake, Snow Canyon State Park and Tuacahn about half an hour, and Zion National Park about 30 minutes. Next door is The Ropes of Southern Utah, a separate business. For a water park with vacation homes a few minutes west, see Pecan Valley Resort, and for an evening soak after Zion, Zion Canyon Hot Springs in La Verkin.

When to go

June through early August is the only stretch when the Water Zone runs daily; it is also when Hurricane valley afternoons pass 100 degrees, so plan pool time for mornings and evenings. Spring and fall weekends are cooler and quieter. From late October to mid-March the slides close and the park becomes a snowbird and RV stop with one heated pool and a hot tub. Our Jellystone Park Utah guide covers the cabins, Water Zone and events in more depth.
