Zion Canyon Hot Springs is a paid mineral hot springs at 202 W 300 S in La Verkin, Utah, between Hurricane and La Verkin on the road to Zion National Park. Do you need a reservation at Zion Canyon Hot Springs?

Reservations are not required, but the hot springs recommends booking online, especially for weekends and holidays. Walk-ins are taken only when space allows. A standard pass lasts 3 hours from the reserved time, not the arrival time, so arrive about 15 minutes early to check in. Annual members do not need reservations.

What is the difference between Select and Premier Access?

Select Access is the all-ages family side, with natural mineral pools, the large freshwater family pool, a cold plunge, a barrel sauna and the Little Canyon Cafe. Premier Access is for guests 21 and over and covers the whole property, adding the 16 WorldSprings pools, more hot springs pools and saunas, and the full bar with cocktails, beer and wine.

Where does the water come from?

The resort pumps its geothermal water from the natural spring on the Virgin River at the boundary of Hurricane and La Verkin, the spring long known as Pah Tempe or Dixie Hot Springs. According to the resort, the spring produces about seven million gallons a day at up to 107 degrees, and the natural hot springs pools are not chlorinated. Getting there from St. George and Zion

From St. George, take I-15 north to Exit 16 and follow State Route 9 east through Hurricane toward La Verkin; the resort puts the drive at about 24 minutes and 20 miles. From Zion National Park's south entrance in Springdale it is about 30 minutes and 24 miles back down SR-9, which makes it a natural stop on the way home from a day of hiking. Parking is free, but the lot fills on busy evenings, so carpool if you can.

When to go

Summer afternoons in the Hurricane valley regularly top 100 degrees, so most visitors soak in the morning or after sunset; the resort cools several pools into the 80s in warm months and stays open until 11 p.m. Fall, winter and spring are the most comfortable seasons for hot water in Southern Utah, and the pools stay open in rain and snow, closing the water only when lightning is near. Weekday afternoons and early evenings are the quietest times, according to the resort.

What to bring

A swimsuit (required), sandals or water shoes and a government photo ID for the 21+ side. One towel is included; robes rent for $10. Outside food, drinks and coolers are not allowed, and the property is cashless. Remove jewelry, since the minerals can tarnish metal.
