Coral Cliffs Cinema 8 is Hurricane's movie theater, an eight-screen first-run cinema on State Street (State Route 9) on the west side of town. It opened in December 2004 as a partnership between Hurricane City and local developers, built so that Hurricane and La Verkin residents could see a movie without driving to St. George. When it opened, the eight stadium-seating auditoriums held about 1,200 seats in all, and the theater sells tickets online as well as at the box office. It is the closest theater to Zion National Park. For visitors staying in Hurricane, La Verkin, Virgin or Springdale, it is 15 to 35 minutes away, compared with 35 to 50 minutes to the two Megaplex theaters in St. George. Because it is a smaller independent house, showtimes are fewer per film than at the Megaplexes and the slate leans toward the week's biggest releases, so check the website for the current schedule before driving over.
