Station II Bar by Zion Brewery
Station II Bar is Zion Brewery's downtown St. George taproom, at 142 North Main Street, a short walk north of Ancestor Square. Zion Brewery's flagship brew pub sits at the entrance to Zion National Park in Springdale; Station II brings the same beer to downtown St. George, about an hour away. The brewery describes the space as a spacious taproom pouring a rotating selection of its craft beers, with a cozy lounge, an outdoor patio and a billiards room. It is a 21-and-over venue.
Food and Drink
Station II serves a food menu alongside the beer, and the kitchen closes at 10 p.m. On Sundays the bar opens at noon and serves a brunch menu until 2 p.m. The brewery also notes seasonal releases and community events at the taproom. Utah caps draft beer at 5% alcohol by volume, so any stronger beers are served in their original can or bottle, a rule that applies to every bar in the state.
Weekly Events
Station II runs something on most nights it is open, which makes it easy to plan around:
- Tuesday: trivia at 7 p.m.
- Second and fourth Wednesdays: music bingo at 6 p.m.
- Thursday: karaoke at 8 p.m.
- Friday and Saturday: DJs from 9 p.m.
- Sunday: poker at 5 p.m.
Schedules can change, so check the brewery's Station II page before you go.
Hours
Station II is closed on Mondays. It opens at 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and closes at 11 p.m., opens at noon on Fridays and Saturdays and stays open until 1 a.m., and runs from noon to 11 p.m. on Sundays. That 1 a.m. weekend close is as late as Utah law allows alcohol service, which makes Station II one of the few late options in town.
Downtown St. George After Dark
Downtown St. George has a compact bar district. Most of the city's bars sit on or just off St. George Boulevard between Main Street and Bluff Street, so a night can move on foot from dinner in Ancestor Square to a brewpub, a cocktail lounge and live music without a car. That matters in Utah, where the legal blood alcohol limit for driving is 0.05, the lowest in the country. Rideshare covers the city, and downtown hotels are within walking distance of Main Street.
The climate shapes the night too. From October through April, mild evenings make the patio the best seat in the house, while summer highs that regularly pass 100°F push the crowd indoors until after sunset. Visitors heading to Zion, Snow Canyon State Park or the Tuacahn Amphitheatre in Ivins often base themselves in St. George and come back downtown in the evening.
Why a Brewery Taproom Downtown
St. George has grown quickly over the past two decades, and its downtown has filled in with restaurants, galleries and hotels around the historic Tabernacle and Town Square. A taproom from a brewery with roots at the gate of Zion gives that downtown a direct link to the park that draws millions of visitors to Washington County each year. For locals, Station II is a weeknight trivia and karaoke spot; for visitors, it is a way to try Zion Brewery's beer without the hour's drive to Springdale.
